Last night, our super-heavyweight Olympic gold medal winner, Anthony Joshua, made his professional debut.

His eagerly awaited debut, at the O2 Arena in London, saw the 23 year-old matched against the unbeaten (albeit in 8 fights) Italian, Emanuele Leo.

Cheered on by a bumper partisan crowd, Joshua gave an impressive display stopping his opponent towards the end of the first round.

Right from the opening bell, Joshua went on the offensive and a huge right, which landed on the jaw, caused Le?s legs wobble.

Joshua kept up the pressure and with the Italian looking vulnerable and in serious danger of getting hurt, the referee stepped in to stop the fight.

Afterwards, having gotten his first fight out of the way, Joshua commented to the media,

?I won?t get caught with my head in the clouds. I?m fighting again in three weeks time so how can I??

?I will crack on with my aim of winning the world heavyweight title ad until I get there I can promise that you won?t see a cocky Anthony Joshua.?

Having witnessed the effect Joshua had on the adoring crowd, the potential is there for a new glamour boy to emerge from our heavyweight pack and his next fight, in three weeks time, is eagerly awaited.
