This afternoon, at the Motorpoint Arena, in Cardiff, the weigh-in took place for the world heavyweight unification fight between Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker.

In front of a vociferous crowd of 4,200, it was the New Zealand WBO world title holder who took to the scales first, with the Kiwi weighing in at 16st 12lb 7oz.

Next on to the scales was the IBF and WBA champion of the world Anthony Joshua with the Watford fighter tipping the scales at 17st 4lbs 2oz, AJ?s lightest weight for six fights.

Both boxers looked in supreme physical condition and, as you?d expect, too part in the usual eye-to-eye starring session before breaking away to take part in their media duties.

Parker, talking to Sky Sports, had this to say,

‘Us being close in weight makes me think he is taking it seriously.

‘We are similar, we will both be fast tomorrow and throwing bombs.

‘I saw he is confident, I’m expecting a really good fight.

‘The first few rounds could go either way, depends who follows their game plan better – I’m ready for anything.

‘I’m here for war, you’ll have to do everything to beat me.’

Whilst AJ, who was his usual smiling self, responded with,

‘I think it’s perfect for tomorrow night.

‘He is nimble, quick and has boxing skills but I can control him and match him for speed, I think.

‘I will be going in and out, trying to control it. you will see. I am looking forward to it.’

The fighters are scheduled to enter the ring at 22:30 hours in Cardiff, on Saturday evening, it promises to be a great fight.
