The big heavyweight fight between Anthony Joshua and Eric Molina is drawing nearer by the minute.
This lunchtime, in Manchester, the weigh-in took place ahead of the fight.
Joshua tipped the scales at 17 stone 11 pounds and 1 ounce whilst the challenger for his IBF title, Molina scaled 16 stone 13 pound and 8 ounces giving Joshua a weight advantage of almost a stone.
Speaking to the media, following the weigh-in, Joshua had this to say to the fans cheering his every step, in Manchester,
‘This is another step in the journey and we are trying to stamp a boxing legacy in the books,
‘The odds say I’m favourite but I don’t see it like that. I can’t overlook Molina and I can’t listen to the hype. I am going to box and flow and as the rounds go on he will fade away and I will pick my shots and get him out of there.
‘One by one I will keep knocking down that tree and I will go through them all. Everyone that has come out will not be let down, we are putting an event on. There will be another knockout and blood, sweat and tears. People like to hear the thud of the punches and people want to see if I have all this potential. From this I will move to a big 2017.’
Some fine words from somebody who has the backing of the nation.
