The sensational news that broke yesterday evening, around 18:00 hours, has got the boxing public excited.
The thought that, in just his sixteenth fight, the Watford heavyweight, Anthony Joshua could become the IBF heavyweight champion of the world, ids enough to make you want April 9th come round very quickly.
But after blowing away his first fifteen professional opponents, Joshua is realistic enough to accept that Prince Charles Martin will be no pushover. The champion, not renowned as a big-puncher, has stopped 21 opponents in his 23 wins.
Talking about the challenge that lies ahead, Joshua has remarked,
?Fighting for the heavyweight world title has been a dream. Martin is a great fighter so I am going to have to produce the performance of my career to claim that belt.?
However, credit should be given to Martin for taking the plunge and being prepared to make his first defence of the title he won after Tyson Fury was stripped of it, with the American remarking about venturing to the United Kingdom,
?I?m coming to the UK to make a statement that I am the best. No One is taking my title.?
This fight is going to be a cracker, mark my words.
