The optimism that was prevalent over the weekend relating to a mega-fight taking place between Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko seems to be on the wane.
It?s being reported this morning that the fight, said to be scheduled the Manchester Arena on December 10th, is in jeopardy.
It?s claimed that the 40-year-old Ukrainian is reluctant to sign up for the fight unless the WBA belt, recently relinquished by Tyson Fury, is on the line along with the IBF belt that Anthony Joshua possesses.
Eddie Hearn, talking about the problem he?s now facing, is quoted as having remarked about the situation,
?We?re happy to move ahead just with the IBF belt on the line but Wladimir wants to fight for the WBA title. If we don?t get that sanctioned, we?re going to have a problem.
?I?ve heard they are talking to other opponents, so perhaps they don?t fancy the fight any more. Now we?ve got to maybe look at other options for Joshua.
?It?s disappointing because we?re 100 per cent committed to the Klitschko fight.
?Whatever?s on the line we?re ready to take that fight. I think the decision will come in the next 48 hours and I hope Joshua-Klitschko will still get made.?
Fingers crossed everyone that Hearn can pull this one off!
