Eddie Hearn promised that news would break regarding Anthony Joshua’s net opponent and boy is it a big fight!

Already scheduled to fight at the O2 Arena in London, on Saturday April 9th, all that remained to be announced was who Joshua would be fighting.

Speculation suggested that the current IBF champion, Charles Martin, was an option, although the Joshua camp, guided by Eddie Hearn, had to decide whether now was the perfect opportunity or whether Joshua should wait.

As it turns out it is the former with it being announced that Joshua will fight for the IBF version of the heavyweight title, on April 9th.

Joshua, with 15 knockouts from 15 professional fights will be up against a more experienced fighter in Martin, with the current champion having won twenty-three of his twenty-four fights.

However, Martin is a volume puncher not a knockout artist and with the correct preparation we have every hope that the lad from Watford will become the heavyweight champion of the world.
