Backtracking to during the week, Eddie Hearn held a press conference to announce the forthcoming heavyweight fight between Anthony Joshua and Kevin Johnson.
The fight is seen as a step-up in class for the unbeaten Joshua, a fighter that has blasted away, all inside three rounds, his first ten professional opponents.
However, whilst Johnson is a difficult opponent and one who has mixed at a high level and is a fighter who has never been stopped, it isn?t perceived he?ll give Joshua too much trouble in the bout scheduled for 31st January 2015.
Talking about the match-up, Joshua had this to say,
‘I see Kevin Johnson as a stepping stone.’
‘I can’t see him putting a dent in what we are building. If he provides me with the rounds, that is exactly what we are looking for.’
Whereas Hearn is already looking past Johnson, commenting at the press conference about a clash with Tyson Fury,
‘It would be a massive fight,’
?I would like to make it in six to eight months’ time when it would be even bigger. This could be a natural fight for the end of the summer.’
Now let?s not get too carried away just yet, my memories of Frank Bruno and Bonecrusher Smith are still relatively fresh!
Joshua, Johnson and Fury?
