Can he be the first to stop this man?
After ten professional fights, all of which have seen Anthony Joshua stop his opponents, with the longest time to stop an opponent being three rounds, the announcement that Joshua will fight Kevin Johnson is an indication that the heavyweight is, slowly, being moved up the professional ladder.
The fight will take place on 31st January 2015 and Johnson, Joshua?s opponent, will arrive on these shores with a record that reads 35 fights, 6 defeats and 29 wins, but more importantly the American has never been stopped.
Obviously, the selection of Johnson as the next opponent for Joshua is designed to get Joshua some rounds under his belt, or see if he can do what others haven?t and stop the fighter.
However, Johnson isn?t coming here to simply roll over and has remarked to the media,
‘I look forward to doing what I do best and that’s beating Olympic guys.’
‘It’s a young lion versus an old lion. I’m not walking away from my herd.’
Whereas Joshua has simply remarked,
‘He doesn’t get stopped but he gets beat.’
Will Joshua be the first to stop Johnson and therefore make those in the USA sit up and take notice?
I reckon he will!
How about you?
