With Frankie Gavin now committed to taking on Kell Brook for his IBF welterweight crown, Eddie Hearn has reacted swiftly to fill a void in the 9th May promotion at the Barclay Card Arena in Birmingham.

The reference promotion was set to feature Frankie Gavin but that, now that he?s on the 30th May promotion at the O2 Arena in London, will not be the case.

Therefore, to fill the void, it has been announced that Anthony Joshua will be showcased on the bill.

After being side-lined for several months with a back injury, it now appears that Joshua is to be kept busy in May. Already booked to fight Kevin Johnson on the O2 Arena bill, Joshua will fight an, as yet, unnamed opponent on the Birmingham card.

But, with the big fight against Johnson on the horizon, you get the feeling that Joshua?s opponent, in Birmingham, won?t be to top-notch.
