Back in the days when I first started going to Boxing shows, the roost was ruled by Mickey Duff and Mike Barrett.

Their monopoly on promotions was only broken up, big-time, when Frank Warren appeared on the scene.

Warren, as we all know, is the biggest player in the UK at the moment with his pugilistic empire now stretching to include the television station – BoxNation.

Establishing yourself as a leading promoter, in the UK, remains a hard task with the need for television coverage a must for shows to generate sufficient funds to ensure profitability ad an onwards and upwards philosophy.

Ricky Hatton, now retired, has announced that he has signed a deal with Frank Warren to showcase his fighters on BoxNation and you get the impression, form comments made to the media that the deal is something of a lifesaver with Ricky remarking,

?Frank has stopped me jacking it in as a promoter. It would have been dead easy to walk away.?

The new partnership will see Warren and Hatton work together since the promoter / fighter relationship they once had, ended in 2005.

It also ensures that Warren continues to have a major foothold when it comes to showcasing British fighters with his own fighters now being joined by those under the banners of Frank Maloney and Barry McGuigan.

It looks like there will be some exciting times ahead on BoxNation, so you?d better get those subscriptions up to date.
