In New York last night, at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, the unbeaten heavyweight contender, Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller was in action.
Miller, who has been talked about as a possible future opponent for Anthony Joshua, was taking on Johann Duhaupus, a fighter who has previously fought for a world title.
Miller, who came in at a huge 304 pounds, won the fight via a unanimous points decision, but, in all honesty, didn’t impress that much.
Although the judge’s scored the fight as thus:
• 119 – 109
• 117 – 111
• 119 – 109
Miller’s punches didn’t carry any authority and rarely troubled Duhaupus.
Duhaupus is a durable opponent but not one who is classified as a big puncher, however, he did carry enough power in his hands to bloody Miller’s nose late on.
The victory sees Millar extend his professional record to 21-0-1 with 18 wins coming by knockout, whilst Duhaupus sees his slip to 37-5 with 24 wins coming by knockout.
But would Miller trouble the likes of Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder if they were ever to meet in the ring I seriously doubt it!
