The middleweight division is currently a division whereby a lot is happening.
Following his win over Nick Blackwell, Chris Eubank Jnr will be hoping that he can move towards a world title tilt, either against the WBA champion Daniel Jacobs or the WBO champion Billy Joe Saunders, the only fighter to have beaten him and that being by a split decision.
Billy Joe Saunders was ringside at the SSE Arena Wembley, on Saturday evening, in a television pundit role. The Hatfield fighter seemed intent on putting Eubank Jnr at every opportunity, dismissing him as a fighter who didn?t have the ability to win a world title.
There was clearly no love lost between the two as, during the fight, Eubank Jnr on several occasions exchanged verbal dialogue with the WBO champion who was sat ringside.
But whether there will be a second fight between the quarrelling duo any time soon remains to be seen, my view is that it will be put on the back-burner for the next eighteen months or so.
Saunders is due to make a defence of his WBO title against the #11 WBO contender Max Bursak on April 30th at the Copper Box Arena London, a fight he should win.
If that is the case then we could see a unification fight with the WBA champion Daniel Jacobs already calling out Saunders, on social media, for a fight.
The social network exchanges having taken place so far reading, with Jacobs starting a colourful exchange of views with,
?There’s been a lot a talk about my next .. wanna make it clear, I’ll fight anyone they put in front of me . But I want B.J!?
With Saunders replying.
?@DanielJacobsTKO you want me I?ll kick your [expletive] son ? your not even world champ belt number2 you hold.?
With Jacobs further retorting,
?@bjsaunders_ no need to go back n forth. You know where I stand! I want dat [expletive]. Sign the contract!!!!?
Let?s get it on I say with the winner defending both belts against Chris Eubank Jnr.
