Although we had high hopes that Eddie Hearn could pull off a coup and win the purse bid to ensure James DeGale fights for the IBF super-middleweight title on home soil, I wasn?t to be.

Hearn?s bid of $2.105 million was beaten by the $3.1 million bid by Dirrell?s team, Warriors.

No date has been announced for the clash yet but talking about the purse bid failure Hearn is quoted as having remarked on Twitter,

?News out of the U.S. – runner up for us in the purse bids for James DeGale v Dirrell – we bid $2.105m & Warriors boxing bid $3.1m! Date soon.?

UK fight fans will be disappointed to miss out on DeGale, hopefully, fulfilling a life-time ambition by becoming a world champ and also hoping that DeGale will leave nothing to chance and knock Andre Dirrell out, that way there will be no arguments with a dodgy points decision.
