The early hours of Sunday morning (UK time) will see George Groves climb into a Las Vegas ring to take on Badou Jack for the WBC version of the super-middleweight title.
Boxing on the under-card of what is being described as Floyd Mayweather Junior?s last fight, Groves is looking forward to the belt and won?t be fazed about the illustrious venue that awaits him, remarking at the weigh-in,
‘It’s not that big to me.
‘I’ve boxed in football stadiums that are sold out and been the main event, carried shows. I’ve understood the pressures that go with huge fights, this is minuscule in comparison to those things.’
And as for his opponent, Groves added,
‘I’ve been involved in bigger fights before, against higher-class opposition.
‘But that doesn’t mean I’ve taken my eye off the ball or taken Badou Jack lightly.
‘The easiest way for me to describe this fight is that Badou Jack’s a good fighter but I’m a better fighter, so that’s why I’m going to win.’
But Jack believes different, remarking about Groves,
‘The thing is, he’s never won a world title so he got famous for being knocked out by Carl Froch.
‘He’s a good fighter, I respect him, but I’m very confident that I’m going to beat him.’
It has all the makings of a great fight, here at Vital Boxing though, we?re waving our Groves flag and reckon Saint George will win inside the distance.
It?s Groves for Us, Inside the Distance!
