At the O2 Arena last night, two heavyweights provided the performances they needed to do so to ensure their next fight is against each other.

David Haye, in his second fight of his comeback, totally out-classed the Kosovan fighter Arnold Gjergjaj, stopping him in two very one-sided rounds whilst the veteran American heavyweight Shannon Briggs knocked out his Argentine opponent Emilio Zarate.

Haye and Briggs, who have exchanged words on several occasions in the build-up to the promotion last night, will fight in September.

Talking about meeting the veteran American fighter, Haye remarked after his win over Gjergjaj,

‘Anthony Joshua is a fight I would relish. But next up for me is Shannon Briggs. He came over to England and talked a big game.

‘I told him if he came over and beat someone I would fight him in September. Let’s go chump, let’s go chump.’

As Haye left the ring to return to his dressing room, the 4-year-old American, Briggs, who has won all nine of his fights since being beaten by Wladimir Klitschko, could be seen taunting Haye.

With both fighters having used up very little energy in beating their respective opponents last night, it might have been an idea to get them in the ring and slug it out there and there, September seems an age away considering both looked as fresh as daisies after their wins last night.
