Although Amir Khan is of the belief that it will be him that stands in the opposite corner to Floyd Mayweather Junior, in the unbeaten champion?s next defence of his title, that may not be the case.

Amir may have put his name to a contract for a 3rd May fight, Mayweather has still to commit himself to fighting the Bolton fighter.

However, it would appear that Amir has a one-in-two chance with Mayweather decreeing that he will be fighting either Amir Khan or Marcos Maidana.

And, in a strange quirk if fate, the 36-year-old has decided he?ll let the fans decide, in a vote, who he?ll fight next.

It may be a novel idea but if there are people who doubt that Amir deserves a fight with Mayweather, surely having beaten Maidana gives Khan the edge in this one.

But, I guess we?ll just have to wait and see won?t we!

Or perhaps Mayweather is just stringing us all along!
