In September, Las Vegas will witness a true super-fight.

There?ll be none of the circus that will surround the hyped-up fight between Floyd Mayweather Junior and Conor McGregor, it?ll just be two giants of the ring going head-to-head when Gennady Golovkin takes on Canelo Alvarez.

However, there is a suspicion that the fight could be the last time we see Golovkin in action.

Golovkin has a record that shows he has knocked out 33 of his 37 victims but, in his last fight, against Daniel Jacobs, he was forced to go the full twelve rounds for the first time in nine years.

Talking about the possibility of this being the last time he climbs between the ropes, Gennady is quoted as having remarked,

?I don?t know how much longer I can continue boxing.

?Maybe after this next fight, I?m finished. This is boxing, not dancing or soccer. It?s not a game.?

Nothing lasts forever but when Gennady Golovkin does call it a day the sport will be poorer for his absence.
