After his recent visit to the UK to fight Kell Brook, Gennady Golovkin could be set to take on another British fighter next year.

Rumours are circulating that suggest Carl Froch is tempted to come out of retirement to take on the boxer rated as being up there with the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.

Froch hasn?t fought since he produced a stunning punch to knockout George Groves, at Wembley Stadium, back in 2014.

However, Eddie Hearn has recently let slip that a conversation between himself and Golovkin?s manager, Tom Loeffler, may well have sown the seeds for this fight with Hearn quoted as having remarked,

?Tom was joking really but Carl texted me and said ?What weight would Golovkin fight me at??. I said ?172lb? and Loeffler said ?170?.?

Could we see Carl Froch come out of retirement for this one?

Is Golovkin the kind of opponent that Froch, even though he is now 39-years-old, could get up for?

It is certainly an interesting piece of speculation that could bring us one of the fights of 2017.
