Before Christmas there was talk that the middleweight sensation Gennady Golovkin would be prepared to step up a weight to take on our very own Carl Froch at super-middleweight.

Well in the space of a couple of days reports are reaching us that the situation might now have changed.

With it being difficult to get opponents for the hard-hitting Golovkin, who now has a record that reads 31-0 with 28 by way of knockout, it had been suggested that a fight against Andre Ward might be the way forward.

However, it seems that suggestion has been dismissed by the Golovkin camp who don?t see it as a viable contest.

Instead the Golovkin camp are intimating that if their man does move up a weight level and enters the pay-per-view arena then they?d much prefer to take on Julio Cesar Chavez Junior who, in a strange quirk of fate is the very opponent that Froch fancies having a Las Vegas swansong with!
