With David Haye adamant that he isn?t going to retire following his recent loss to Tony Bellew and his subsequent Achilles surgery, it appears the victor last Saturday night could be heading for retirement.

Following his unexpected win, in his ring interview, Bellew hinted that he?d made enough money for his kids to live happy ever after and that boxing may have seen the last of him.

Subsequent words to the media have hinted that may still be the case but that he?d only fight again if an offer came along that was too good to turn down.

Reading between the lines, unless he gets a shot at a world heavyweight title, the current cruiserweight champion of the world might just sit tight knowing that a Bellew v Haye II would be an attractive proposition, even more so with Haye desperate to avenge the defeat and remarking to the media,

‘I never envisaged losing this fight, if Tony Bellew does retire – and I truly hope he doesn’t – then I will carry on in my path to be number one in the world.

‘But it is only fair to the fans to rematch against the guy who beat me. If that does not happen, then I will find a way to challenge for the heavyweight title. I believe after sharing a ring with him, he will want to do it again.’

I guess the next six months will see this particular scenario ebb and flow, it should be an interesting time!
