St Patricks Day in New York, in 2017, has the potential to be a wonderful memory for two Irish boxers.
After the 2016 Olympics, in Brazil both Michael Conlan and Paddy Barnes chose to leave the amateur ranks and turn professional,
It has been confirmed that Michael Conlan will make his professional debut at the prestigious Madison Square Garden, in New York, on St Patricks Day 2017.
Talking about making his professional bow at such a famous venue,Conlan has remarked,
‘I can’t remember a debutant who topped their own bill. It’s going to be a very special moment at Madison Square Garden.?
But making it even more special for the Irish is that Conlan will be joined on the promotion by his fellow Belfast boxer Barnes.
However, it will not be professional debut as that is scheduled for Guy Fawkes night, in Belfast.
Conlan, it seems, is expected to base himself in Los Angeles after signing a contract with Top Rank Promotions, run by Bob Arum.
Exciting times ahead for the exciting pair.
