Also on the under-card of the Joshua v Cornish Commonwealth heavyweight title fight, was an intriguing clash between John Wayne Hibbert and Dave Ryan.

The clash, in the light-welterweight division, saw Hibbert given the chance to avenge a defeat inflicted by Ryan back in May. Ryan had also beaten Hibbert back in 2013 so revenge really was the buzz-word for this fight.

In an intriguing clash where it looked as if Ryan would get a third win over Hibbert, with Hibbert being out-boxed and also cut over an eye, there was to be a twist in the tale.

In the tenth round Ryan appeared to pick up an injury affecting his mobility, Hibbert took the opportunity to pounce and Ryan was immediately in trouble, getting hit by numerous punches before collecting a huge right-hand that saw the referee step in to halt the fight.

Some might suggest that with Ryan clearly injured the fight should have been stopped and taken to a points verdict, but all credit to Hibbert for seizing the moment and taking a win that didn?t look to be on the cards for the majority of the fight.
