Having angled for that elusive top of the bill promotion in Las Vegas, it is looking as if an injury has scuppered, for now, Carl Froch?s chances.

Rumours had been rife that a March date, in the Nevada desert had almost been signed up for Froch to face the Mexican Julio Cesar Chavez.

Unfortunately, any chances of the IBF and WBA super-middleweight champion taking that fight have been ruined by an elbow injury.

Talking about the situation, Froch has remarked to the media,

‘I’m disappointed to have to let this opportunity go but at this stage in my career I have to make every fight count.
‘I will get some treatment and then we will look to make this fight or another big fight in the early summer.’

It remains to be seen if the governing bodies remain lenient and let Froch hang on to his belts, I suspect out of the two belts he currently holds, the IBF might be the least willing to let Froch hang on to their belt.
