Having won the WBO world middleweight title against Andy Lee, Billy Joe Saunders was scheduled to make a first defence of his crown at the end of April.
His opponent was scheduled to be Max Bursak with the promise of better things to come once the first defence was out of the way, with the name of Gennady Golovkin becoming very prominent in news articles.
Unfortunately, Billy Joe Saunders defence has had to be postponed after the WBO middleweight champion picked up a hand injury in training.
Speaking about his misfortune, Billy Joe has remarked,
?I?m bitterly disappointed but this is boxing and these things happen. Now it?s all about recovering properly and looking forward to a big 2016.?
It remains to be seen whether Billy Joe Saunders, once recovered from his hand injury, will fight Max Bursak, or whether a different opponent will be picked for his next fight.
