Brash words from the young WBO light-heavyweight champion.

At 49 years of age, is the IBF / WBA light-heavyweight champion Bernard ?The Alien? Hopkins living on borrowed time?

With a record of 55-6-2 with 32 by way of knockout, Hopkins? performances have stood the test of time.

However, on 8th November, in a unification match against the WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev, Hopkins faces, quite possibly, his biggest test in recent times.

At the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Sergey Kovalev, with a record of 25-0-1 with 23 by way of knockout, has threatened to punch Hopkins into retirement, remarking,

“I?m going to do everything I can to get the victory.?

?Alien sounds like the Russian word ?Alen.? For me, he?s a deer. Old Bambi from Mars. He?s still fast, smart, and also he has a good punch. This fight for me will be a big test. I will get a lot of experience from the fight against Hopkins, and I?m going to get two more titles. It?s my goal right now. My body is ready for 12 or even 15 [rounds]. How many do you need? I want to help him end his career, because he doesn?t want to stop himself.?

Those words should certainly rile the 49 year-old and, suddenly, 8th November can?t come quick enough!
