With the 2016 Olympic Games, in Rio, fast approaching Vital Boxing would like to applaud the IBF.
The boxing organisation, on the back of the outrageous decision to let professional fighters enter the Olympic Boxing competition, has decreed that and of its boxers who compete at the Rio Olympics will be stripped of their world titles.
Furthermore, any of its rated fighters who decide to compete will find themselves removed from the IBF ratings for a period of one year.
Talking about their commendable decision which is based on fighter safety, the IBF president Daryl Peoples is quoted as having remarked,
‘We felt it was important for the IBF to take a stance due to safety concerns, as part of our commitment to this sport is to promote the health and well-being of the boxers.?
The UK currently has three IBF world champions
? Anthony Joshua
? James DeGale
And
? Kell Brook
None were / are expected to compete in the Olympics which start on 5th August.
