It appears that another British fighter is set to get the chance to gate-crash the world title heavyweight scene.

With Anthony Joshua ruling the roost with the IBF heavyweight title in his possession and with the likes of Tyson Fury, David Haye, Tony Bellew, David Price, Dereck Chisora and Dillian Whyte all keen to be involved at world title level, the suggestion being bandied about by The Sun this morning is that it will be Hughie Fury that will be the first to get the chance to join Anthony Joshua as a recognised world champion.

The popular tabloid is reporting that Hughie, the cousin of Tyson Fury, has been chosen by the reigning WBO champion, Joseph Parker, as his first defence.

For 22-year-old Hughie, it is a chance to fulfil a prophecy whereby he championed the suggestion he?d be a world champion, although the mantra that he?d beat Mike Tyson?s record and become the youngest ever heavyweight champion has somewhat fallen by the wayside.

Although no date or venue is, as of yet, mentioned, Hughie will enter the proposed contest unbeaten, with a record that reads 20-0, however, Hughie has yet to go the full 12-round distance.

Parker, 24-year-of-age, became the first Kiwi heavyweight champion when he got a majority points decision over Andy Ruiz, in Aukland recently.

Can Hughie pull this one off?

It might take a supreme effort, even more so if Parker, as we suspect, will get home advantage for the fight, with it also being suggested live coverage will be on BT Sport
