On the under-card of the big fight between Golovkin and Murray, a certain Hughie Fury made his return to the ring.
Hughie, a cousin of Tyson Fury, had been absent from the ring for some nine months after picking up an illness.
Perhaps Hughie?s biggest claim to fame is that he once brashly predicted that he?d become the youngest ever heavyweight champion of the world, eclipsing the record set by Mike Tyson.
That prediction has probably been blown out of the water by the previously mentioned illness putting a halt to proceedings for nine months.
On the under-card, in Monte Carlo, Hughie was matched against the very experienced and rugged Andriy Rudenko. Ahead of the fight many questioned whether Hughie?s team might have take a huge gamble picking such an opponent for Hughie?s comeback fight.
But that wasn?t proven to be so with Hughie putting on a master-class, keeping his opponent at bay with his jab and moving in to launch some powerful hooks when the need arose.
In sticking to the game-plan Hughie won every round to take the unanimous decision and keep his 100% win record.
With that first fight out of the way, we expect Hughie to feature more regularly on future promotions as he attempts to make his mark in the heavyweight division.
