As the undercard for the colossal fight that is Froch v Groves II takes shape, there is the chance for James DeGale to really make a statement of intent.

DeGale, who recently signed for the Matchroom stable, has been given a slot on the May 31st under-card knowing that if he can add another victory to his record of 18-1, he?ll be in line to fight the winner of the mega-match between Cal Froch and George Groves.

But DeGale is lined up to fight a difficult opponent in the shape of the Californian Brandon ?Flawless? Gonzales who will arrive at the Wembley ring with a record that reads 18-0-1 with 10 of those victories by knockout.

For DeGale it represents a huge opportunity to grab a chance to fight for the IBF super-middleweight belt but DeGale will, I believe, have to produce the best performance of his professional career against the slick, hard-punching American, but it is definitely a fight that is worthy of being on the undercard on a titanic night for British Boxing where, it is anticipated, 80,000 boxing supporters will be packed inside.
