Could two British fighters that have been beaten by Gennady Golovkin be set to meet each other?
It could well be!
Both Martin Murray and Matthew Macklin seem keen to get in the ring with each other in a fight that could well propel one of the duo towards another world title fight.
Macklin was taken out in brutal fashion by Golovkin, with a body-punch completely taking the wind out of his sails in an early round. Since then Macklin has been stopped by Jorge Sebastien Holland in a 10th round knockout, so it could be said that Macklin is looking for a way back.
Murray took Golovkin a lot further than many people anticipated before being stopped in the latter rounds.
Talking about a possible fight against Macklin, Murray, with a record of 29-2-1 with 12 coming by way of knockout, has remarked,
?If that fight is there with Macklin, why not?
?I have always wanted that fight. I would fight anyone, and he, to be fair to him, has proved the same. The fight has to be at the right time and after his last fight he needs a fight to see where he is, a nice easy fight to get back into it. Obviously that?s what he wants to do.?
We understand Macklin is due to fight an un-named opponent on 9th May against an, as yet, un-named opponent but further talking about a clash with Macklin, Murray has further added,
?If he wants the fight I am game. I always wanted the fight I accepted it a couple of times before. If it can get made and it makes sense for both of us, why not??
Will they get this one on?
We?ll have to wait and see won?t we!
How About Murray v Macklin?
