One of the hot topics in recent weeks has been Carl Froch?s ability to hang on to his IBF belt in the face of not defending it against the #1 IBF challenger James DeGale.

There had been mutterings that the IBF were set to strip Froch of the belt but that was before his injured elbow saw him forced off the scene due to medical grounds.

However, with talk of Froch still being undecided as to whether he will fight again, following his elbow injury, there is now definite talk of the Nottingham fighter relinquishing the belt.

Talking to the media Froch?s promoter, Eddie Hearn has remarked,

‘Carl doesn’t want to obstruct James but that is not a fight that excites Carl yet.’

‘It may mean vacating the IBF belt and just holding the WBA belt to defend that. But belts aren’t overly important to Carl right now. It is more about the fights.’

Hopefully Froch will do the decent thing and let DeGale get on with his career instead of seeing it stall.
