A fight with Quigg will have to wait!

Many suspected that when Eddie Hearn and his Matchroom team became involved with the IBF super bantamweight mandatory challenger, Chris Avalos, it was in order to persuade the American to step aside so that Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg could face each other in a huge domestic clash with two world title at fight.

The inference being that Avalos would be paid step-aside money to allow the clash to take place. But word from the Hearn camp suggests that will not now be the case with Eddie remarking to the media,

?I spoke to Jake and Blaine McGuigan last week and I think they will fight Avalos next. I am pretty sure on that. They want to get that fight out of the way.?

?Avalos wants that fight and he has waited and with the Frampton hand injury it will most likely be February. Obviously I am involved with Avalos and those negotiations. I am trying to get the best deal for him. He would be best served to look at the offer and if he doesn?t like it let it go to purse bids. I am sure we (Matchroom) would bid. I would like to have Carl on Sky Sports. I don?t know his TV situation with Boxnation, but maybe that happens by me winning purse bids or purchasing the rights.?

As we reported yesterday, it looks as if Quigg v Frampton will have to wait until May / June next year, let?s hope both are still world title holders then!
