Our heavyweight hope and 2012 Olympic gold medallist is being guided towards a potential first big(ish) title fight.
Although Anthony Joshua will be taking on the German, Konstantin Airich, on the undercard in Manchester on September 13th, when Scott Quigg defends his world title, plans have now also been put in place for his next fight.
The media are suggesting that Joshua will be matched with the Russian, Denis Bakhtov, for the WBC international heavyweight title on 11th October.
Speaking about moving his charge up the ladder, Eddie Hearn has remarked,
‘I believe that the time is right for Anthony to step up and fight for his first title.’
However, it promises to be a tough fight with Bakhtov having won 27 of his 28 fights.
Heading for a Title Showdown!
