Last week, or possibly the week before, we covered the fact that the December re-match between David Haye and Tony Bellew had been called off.
The postponement was due to Haye suffering a freak injury as he slipped on some stairs.
Two dates were offered up as possible alternative dates for the fight.
It has now been announced that the bout will take place on 5 May at the O2 Arena, in London.
In the first fight it was 34-year-old Bellew that stopped 37-year-old Haye, with Haye picking up a serious injury.
Talking about the revised date, Bellew has been quoted as having remarked,
‘To be honest I was looking forward to a great victory in December and a relaxing family break over Christmas, but my mind is still very much on this fight and I will punish him for that.
‘I now have a very clear plan for 2018 and that is to knock out David Haye and then knock out Tyson Fury and end both their careers.’
Interesting stuff.
Whilst Haye had this to say,
?Whilst the first chapter of the Haye-Bellew saga didn’t go my way, fans were left on the edge of their seats throughout the thrilling 11-round battle.
‘The rematch in May will no doubt eclipse this.’
That remains to be seen
