After his comeback, after being out of the ring for some three and a half years, David Haye showed that he can be a big player in the heavyweight scene by stopping his opponent inside one round.

Although Mark De Mori had, on paper, a decent looking record, he was no match for the former two weight world champion.

In the many interviews Haye gave after the one-round demolition, Haye indicated that he’d be fighting on a regular basis to get back to the pinnacle of the division.

However, having taken Mark De Mori’s place in the tope ten rankings, Haye is in a position whereby he knows that he could grab if the occasion was right, a world title fight.

Therefore, the fighting on a regular basis philosophy looks a little jarred now, even more so when it has been announced that Haye’s next fight won’t be until 21st May at the O2 Arena, in London.

Perhaps the energy used in that one-round demolition took more out of Haye than we first thought!
