On what was a good night for British boxing, Saturday, news has filtered through that another of our British world title holders has picked up an injury.
Lee Haskins, the IBF world bantamweight champion was scheduled to travel to Kyoto, Japan, to take on the Japanese fighter Shohei Omori.
The fight was scheduled to take place on 31st December but Haskins has picked up a leg injury in training.
Medical reports suggest that Haskins should be fit enough to resume training early in January.
Talking about having to pull out of the fight, Haskins remarked to the media,
‘I am gutted to have to pull out of this fight, I was looking forward to closing out 2016 with three title defences.
‘We will wait to see if the fight can be re-arranged otherwise I know there are some big fights out there in 2017.’
Here?s hoping the leg injury clears up quickly and we can see Lee back in action very soon.
