This Saturday, at Wembley Stadium, Anthony Joshua will step into the ring for the biggest test of professional career.
The IBF world heavyweight champion will be facing the veteran Waldimir Klitschko, a fight that could define his career and see him elevated to the status of the best heavyweight in the world, although the likes of Deontay Wilder and Joseph Parker might object to that statement.
As the clash draws nearer, the two fighters will be subjected to media interviews. Today Anthony Joshua has broken ranks to talk about his opponent.
Joshua believes that the timing is right and that age has caught up with the 41-year-old, remaking to the media,
‘He has to pass on the baton. I do hear it a lot, he’s too old, he’s faded.
‘But then I try and flip it. Even if he is too old, which I think he is, he’s in a good place mentally and that’s a dangerous fighter.
‘Timing is everything and maybe Father Time has caught up with the former champ.’
Those thoughts are also echoed by Joshua?s trainer, Rob McCracken, who commenting on whether Klitschko?s age was a deciding factor in taking the fight, commented,
‘I’d be a liar if I said it wasn’t the case. I think the last couple of fights he hasn’t looked at his best.
‘Timing is huge in boxing. Klitschko is coming to the end of his reign as a heavyweight on the planet.
‘We are rolling the dice with Anthony in this situation. It’s a huge step up in terms of experience and the calibre of the opponent but we think the timing is right.’
Let?s hope they?re both right because, to me, Wladimir looks to be up for this one as he looks to regain his status as the heavyweight champion of the world.

I guess we will see if Father Time has caught up when the bell goes for round one, then we will see how much life there is in the old dog.
