After earning, deservedly, a unanimous points decision against Chris Eubank Jnr to earn a place in the World Boxing Super Series Final, there is worrying news emerging that George Groves? place in the final is in doubt.

In the final round of the fight, at the Manchester Arena, Groves suffered a dislocated shoulder.

After the fight, the shoulder was put back in place in a Manchester hospital.

However, it seems that Groves participation in the final is dependent upon how quickly the injury heals and he can return to training.

The final of the competition is set for early June with George?s trainer, Shane McGuigan remarking to the media,

‘It’s a massive concern for the tournament.

‘George Groves’ health is paramount.’

Continuing on the subject, the tournament promoter Kalle Sauerland, added,

‘We have a scope for when the tournament has to be completed.

‘We are hopeful. With those type of injuries he could train quickly again, but no-one knows until it’s been diagnosed by an expert.’

If George Groves is, courtesy of his shoulder injury, forced to withdraw from the final, Sauerland also confirmed that Chris Eubank Jnr would be on the list as somebody to possibly take Groves place.

Let?s hope that George can take part, otherwise it?d put a dark cloud over what has been an interesting enterprise.
