George Groves, who had copped for some flak from Carl Froch, having sparred with Mikkel Kessler before their fight, did his own chances of securing a world title flight no harm with a good stoppage of the Uruguayan Noe Gonzalez.

Groves claimed the 19th victory of his career stopping his opponent with a right-hand that landed flush on the chin. Although Gonzalez beat the count the referee, Terry O?Connor pulled him out of a contest he was never really in.

After the fight, Groves had this to say about his performance,

‘I’m only ever happy after a perfect performance and I don’t think I will get that.?

‘I controlled it and my only mistake was trading recklessly at the start. But my shots were landing and it was a case of wearing him down before I landed the sweet shot that put him away.’

However, Groves career does appear to be heading the right way and a world title shot can?t be that far away.
