The announcement yesterday that George Groves is to return to the ring, on 20th September, at the Wembley Arena in a European title fight against Christopher Rebrasse is a bold statement.

Many expected Groves to be given a bout that would see him almost certain, barring a disaster, get back to winning ways.

Whilst accepting that Rebrasse isn?t a big hitter, with only six stoppages on his record Groves knows that it is a fight that he must win.

Following his two losses to Carl Froch (although the first of those losses is hugely contentious), Groves knows that his career just can?t afford a third loss on the trot.

If Groves were to lose it?d be hard to see in which direction his career would go, any talk of a world title fight would be unthinkable and although George remains supremely confident that he will be a world champion, would there be any way back from three defeats on the bounce?
