Following the controversial draw, in Las Vegas, between Gennady Golovkin and Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez, the suggestion being bandied about is that there could well be a re-match.
However, if we are to witness version two of what we saw at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, we could have to wait until sometime next year.
Canelo has indicated that, following the gruelling fight, he?s not even considering fighting again in 2017 and a re-match could be as far away as May 2018.
Meanwhile, Golovkin has no intentions of being inactive for so long as is looking towards another fight, quite possibly in December.
As for an opponent, look no further than the WBO champion with Golovkin looking towards a unification showdown with the Hatfield fight who made a second successful defence of his title against Willie Munroe Jnr, at the Copper Box Arena.
For Saunders, managed by Frank Warren, it is the ideal chance to really explode on the world stage and possibly become the unified champion, whilst the ring warrior that is Golovkin, wants the re-match with Canelo knowing he is the undisputed champion of the world.
All it needs to be sorted is a contract, a date and a venue, anyone care to fill in the details!
