The Gennady Golovkin road show rolled into California last night with devastating effect.

Golovkin, the unbeaten WBA middleweight title holder was matched up with Willie Monroe Junior.

Ahead of the fight we predicted that the 33-year-old Kazakh would be too strong for the challenger and that proved to be exactly the case.

In what was a brutal display of power, Golovkin stopped Monroe in the sixth round.

The writing was on the wall as early as the second round when Golovkin had his opponent on the floor twice.

But Monroe proved his status as a world title challenger by fighting on and even having a degree of success when he got in close.

However, the end was to come in the sixth round when Golovkin caught Monroe with a barrage of heavy punches that saw the fight stopped.

The knockout was Golovkin?s 20th consecutive meaning he has knocked out all his opponents since June 2008.

Speaking to a delighted crowd of over 12,000 spectators, Golovkin had this to say about his latest win,

‘It was a good, big drama show. I felt very strong.’

The win takes Golovkin to 33-0 with 30wins coming by way of stoppage. After the fight Golovkin called out Miguel Cotto and Saul ?Canelo? Avarez, but will either of them be prepared to mix it with a fighter many are considering to be the best pound-for-pound in the world?
