Last night in London, at the Wembley SSE Arena, George Groves made a successful defence of his WBA International super-middleweight title beating the German fighter Eduard Gutknecht on points.

Unfortunately, the fight took an unwanted twist after Gutknecht returned to the dressing room.

After being end the of several hard shots from Groves and some smart combinations, Gutknecht couldn?t be faulted for his efforts, although his face looked a mess at the final bell.

But after returning to the apparent sanctuary of his dressing room the experienced German fighter was taken ill.

An ambulance was called and Gutknecht was carried from his dressing room on a stretcher and taken to hospital.

Here at Vital Boxing we have our fingers crossed that Eduard Gutknecht can make a full recovery, our sport doesn?t need another disaster to contemplate.
