Last week we covered how Oleksander Usyk had earned a place in the World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight final.
Last night, in Sochi, Russia, Usyk was on-hand to see who he would be meeting in the final which is scheduled for 11 May.
Battling for the right to take on Usyk were the WBA champion Yunier Dorticos and the IBF champion Murat Gassiev.
As it turned out it was to be Gassiev that would be declared the victor.
In an entertaining fight, Gassiev extended his unbeaten run to twenty-six fights by stopping Dorticos in the twelfth and final round.
Pouring on the pressure, Gassiev had his opponent down on the canvas three times thereby forcing the stoppage.
The first of the knockdowns saw Gassiev catch Dorticos with a huge left hook and from thereon in the writing was on the wall for his Cuban opponent.
The final, as well as discovering who will win this World Boxing Super Series Final, will give Usyk or Gassiev the chance to make history with the four major belts, WBA WBC, IBF and WBO, all up for grabs.
The winner will become the first person in history to hold all four major belts at the same time.
Who gets your verdict, Usyk or Gassiev?
