Yesterday, the inference doing the rounds; was that the proposed heavyweight clash between Tyson Fury and David Haye was a non-starter.

Various tweets, on the social network site Twitter, indicated that whilst the Haye camp was happy to split the purse 50/50 the Fury camp were looking towards a split of 80/20 in their fighters favour!

This morning, the Fury camp continue to rattle their cage by insisting that they are taking the fight and that a press conference will be called next week to announce a titanic clash at the Manchester Evening News Arena on September 28th with the fight being shown live on Sky Sports.

Discussing this possibility, Fury?s trainer, his Uncle Peter, is quoted in the morning press as having remarked,

?We are ready, David?s team say they are ready so let?s get it on.?

?We have been waiting to sign for around four weeks ? the fight is 1,000 per cent on from our side.?

Which to us Boxing punters is sweet music to our ears.

However, before we all start raiding our bank accounts for ringside tickets, there would, it seems, be a lot of groundwork still be done.

Whilst the date appears to have been settled the purse split, I feel, is still a major, major stumbling block. However, keep those fingers crossed that somebody, somewhere, can tie all the loose ends together and then we could just witness the mother of all battles!
