After having to withdraw from his WBO world heavyweight title fight, against Joseph Parker, in Auckland, New Zealand, courtesy of an injury, the fight has now been re-scheduled.
Hughie Fury will get his chance to dethrone Joseph Parker on the 23rd September, at the Manchester Arena.
For Parker it will mean fighting away from home, although the exposure he?ll get by defending his crown in the United Kingdom could go some way to increasing his profile as he looks towards possible heavyweight unification fights.
However, Hughie Fury will have his own ideas on that scenario.
But, holding the promotion at the Manchester Arena is sure to be somewhat emotional following the traumatic events of May when a terror attack, on a pop concert being held there, saw so many lives ended.
The Manchester Arena is currently closed but a spokesperson for the venue has commented about it being re-opened remarking,
?We are working towards re-opening in early September.?
The Manchester Arena is, of course, synonymous with Boxing events and I?m sure that boxing will do its bit to remember those who perished attending an event they?d waited months for.
