With it now being official that Tyson Fury and Wladimir Klitschko will not be fighting, in Dusseldorf, on 24th October, die to a calf muscle injury suffered in training by the Ukrainian, details of a new date for the fight are eagerly awaited.

The injury diagnosed by Dr. Hans-Wilheim Muller- Wolfhart is described by the doctor as,

?The clinical and MRI-examination in our clinic showed a partial muscle-tendinous tear of the left calf. The boxing fight planned for October 24 should be postponed for an indefinite period of time. Due to this injury we strictly recommend to stop the athletic activity for the next weeks.?

However, with such an injury and such a diagnosis, it seems strange that already there is talk of a new date for the fight being announced next week, with the venue still being TheESPIRIT Arena in Dusseldorf.

One can only surmise that the fight will not now take place until sometime in the New Year, thereby allowing Wladimir?s injury to clear up completely.

Talking about the disappointment of postponing the fight the champions is attributed as having remarked,

?Especially after the exciting press conference last Wednesday I was looking forward to this fight very much. I know that a lot of fans have organized their trips for supporting me in Düsseldorf. I am so sorry that I am not able to fight on October 24. As well as I am sorry for my opponent who has already prepared for this fight for many weeks. I will do my very best to recover as fast as possible.?

Unfortunately, approaching forty years of age here?s no knowing how quickly Wladimir will heal and there could be the possibility that some of the world organisations, whose belts he holds, could strip him or place him on what is called Emeritus status which would allow other boxers to fight for the belts and then challenge Wladimir when he is fit.

But, returning to Tyson Fury, who must be absolutely gutted after honing his body into what he feels is his perfect weight ahead of the fight, will the self-proclaimed ?Gypsy King? risk taking an in between bout to stave off ring rust?

All in all it?s not what we were anticipating when we were all viewing the entertaining press conference at the Hilton Hotel, in Brentford, is it?
