The world moves in mysterious ways.
There we were expecting the fight for the WBO world heavyweight title between Wladimir Klitschko to go to purse bids when, right at the very last minute, both parties reached a deal.
Our understanding is that negotiations were about to enter the WBA offices in Panama when Fury?s promoter, Mick Hennessy, reached a last gasp deal just before the 15:00 hours deadline.
The hugely anticipated fight will take place in Dusseldorf, Germany in front of an audience of 54,600 seats on October 24th.
Talking about the last gasp deal, Tyson?s trainer, Peter Fury remarked,
?It wasn?t easy but they got it together at the last moment.?
Since he contract was signed, the social media networks have been alive with the inference that the Ukrainian will be far too good for Fury, but Wladimir?s manager, Bernd Boente, has every respect for Tyson Fury, remarking to the BBC World Service,
‘It’s a very tough fight there is no doubt,’
‘Wladimir knows that, our team knows that. His coach knows that. The preparation has to be very, very good and it’s a tough challenge no doubt.
‘Tyson Fury is a very good fighter. He has a very good amateur background. He is an excellent undefeated pro. He can fight in regular stance, fight as a southpaw so that’s definitely a threat no doubt.’
October may be some way off but I wonder how long before the verbal exchanges between the two really get the pulse racing.
