With the action, in the ring, set to resume in earnest this weekend, with David Haye?s long awaited ring return, another heavyweight was back as the centre of attention yesterday.

Tyson Fury, who ripped the IBF, WBA and WBO belts from Wladimir Klitschko, on that wonderful night in Dusseldorf, was awarded a wonderful personal accolade.

The hugely influential American boxing magazine The Ring, named the true heavyweight champion of the world as their Fighter of the Year for 2015.

Describing why they chose Fury for this accolade, the magazine remarked that Fury?s defeat of Klitschko turned boxing?s traditional glamour division upside-down.

As for Tyson, he was, for once, a little lost for words, simply remarking,

‘I can’t believe I’ve just won Ring magazine fighter of the year.

‘I’m so flattered.’

After having enjoyed such a wonderful 2015, it?s hard to see Tyson Fury bettering his achievements in 2016, but then again I wouldn?t bet against it, would you?
