Although many thought it would never get started, with the main fight not getting underway until the early hours of the morning at the London ExCel Arena, it very nearly didn?t happen.
It appears that it was touch-and-go with regards to Tyson Fury being fit enough to box.
The new British and European heavyweight champion was bed-ridden with a flu bug ahead of the fight with his trainer, his Uncle Peter advising the media after the fight,
?Tyson hardly trained ? he was virtually bed-ridden.
?He had flu injections in an effort to get him right but at one time I was thinking about pulling him out of this fight. Somehow he got through it but he was nowhere near the 100 per cent he should have been to take on a dangerous puncher like Chisora.
?Ty was constantly sweating through the night but one thing he prides himself on is fulfilling his obligations.?
I bet he?s glad he did battle on after picking up the belts and also guaranteeing a fight with Wladimir Klitschko.
But, after the David Haye fiasco and then having to postpone his last fight last time out, I suspect that virtually being inactive for eighteen months, Tyson just had to get into that ring!
Fury Almost Never Made It!
